As residents return home and travel throughout the Clinton area for supplies and other needs, please use extra caution on local roads and highways.
The wildfire damaged fences and, in some cases, livestock were released so they could escape the fire.
As a result, cattle, horses and other farm or domestic animals may be roaming in areas where drivers would not normally expect to see them.
Ranchers and residents are working to locate animals and bring them safely home, but this will take time.
⚠️ Please help keep everyone safe:
• Slow down, particularly at dawn, dusk and at night.
• Watch carefully for animals on or beside the roadway.
• Be prepared to stop suddenly.
• Give livestock plenty of space and do not attempt to move or approach them.
• Watch for ranchers and others who may be working near roadways to recover animals.
Conditions throughout the area are still different from what residents are used to. Please travel carefully and expect the unexpected as our community and neighbouring ranches continue to recover.
If you come across domestic animals that are roaming near roads, you can call the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) at 1-866-707-7862 or the TNRD EOC at 250-377-7188.
