INVESTMENT AND MARKETING PLAN
The Village of Clinton completed an Investment and Marketing Plan in 2017. Marketing opportunities and trends were identified as targeted retailers, developers, and manufacturers. Six business opportunities were highlighted in a portfolio for marketing to potential investors. These are only some of the potential businesses to enhance the Village and foster sustainable economic growth for our community.
BC PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM: ENTREPRENEUR IMMIGRATION REGIONAL PILOT
The Village of Clinton is participating in the Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot program put on by the BC PNP. The program is designed to attract entrepreneur immigration and match the potential immigrant to a community where they will thrive while supporting that community’s economic development priorities. This program is designed to support immigration to rural BC by allowing rural communities, such as Clinton, to market themselves to international entrepreneurs and investors. As of April 2021, the Pilot program has been extended to March 2024.
The Village of Clinton is currently in the process of finalizing priority sectors for re-enrolment into the program. Once these priority sectors are confirmed (coming August-September 2021), the Village of Clinton will be accepting applications for the program again. Interested entrepreneurs should email firstname.lastname@example.org and ensure to read the BC PNP – EI Regional Pilot Program Guide to be familiar with the program requirements in the meantime.
To begin the process, the interested entrepreneur must email their interest to the Village of Clinton to determine if their business will be a match for the community. They are then able to send an application to the Village of Clinton with the following:
- A detailed business proposal
- Proof of language ability
- Completed registration with BC PNP Online and self-assessment score (see page 32 of the Program Guide for more information)
The Village of Clinton will then review the application, and decide if the entrepreneur is a match for the community. If so, they will be invited for an exploratory visit in which their business proposal can be discussed further, and they get the chance to visit Clinton in person to determine if it is a match for them. If, after the visit and screening process, both the community and the applicant are confident that Clinton is the right community for them, the community may choose to support the Immigration application by filling out a referral request.
