August 10, 2026 (PM) Update

August 10, 2026 (PM) Update

Good evening,

We know that being away from home for an extended period of time is stressful, even at the best of times. Having to evacuate, leave behind animals and possessions, and not be able to have neighbours or family check on your home can be distressing

We want to reassure you that the Village, including local businesses and homes, continues to be monitored by local RCMP and security personnel.

With that in mind, we want to share an important message from the RCMP about unauthorized access to the Village, as well as some information for residents who may be seeing authorized workers on their home security cameras.

Thank you,
The Village of Clinton Emergency Operations Centre

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE VILLAGE OR CROSS ROAD CLOSURES WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION

The Village of Clinton remains under an Evacuation Order.

Under B.C.’s Emergency and Disaster Management Act and state of emergency, entering an area subject to an Evacuation Order without authorization is against the law.

Over the past two weeks, RCMP, in conjunction with BC Conservation officers, have issued more than $15,000 in fines to people who entered the Village of Clinton without authorization.

We understand that residents want to check on their homes and properties. However, the Evacuation Order is in place to protect residents, firefighters, emergency personnel and everyone working in the community.

Entering the evacuation area, including the Village, without authorization puts your safety at risk and can take critical resources away from response and recovery work.

RCMP continue to enforce the Evacuation Order and access restrictions. RCMP have identified additional instances of unauthorized entry and further fines are expected to be issued.

RESIDENT SECURITY AND DOORBELL CAMERAS

Now that power has been restored, residents may see activity on home security and doorbell cameras. Authorized personnel are working throughout Clinton and may need to be on or near private property as essential services are restored and re-entry work continues.

This may include contractors and personnel working with BC Hydro, TELUS, security services, environmental specialists and engineers.

RCMP have confirmed there have been no reports of looting in the Village.

If you see someone on your security camera and have concerns, please contact the Clinton Emergency Operations Centre at 250-377-6313.

Please do not return to Clinton to check your property.
