2026 General Local Election

Public Notice – Notice of Nomination

Public Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Village of Clinton and School District No. 74 (Gold Trail) that nominations for the following offices will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person during the nomination period:

  • One (1) Mayor for the Village of Clinton
  • Four (4) Councillors for the Village of Clinton
  • One (1) School Trustee – Village of Clinton (Area C) for School District No. 74 (Gold Trail)

Nomination Documents

Nomination documents are available from the Village of Clinton Municipal Office, 1423 Cariboo Hwy, Clinton, BC V0K 1K0, during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays, until the close of the nomination period on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Nomination Period

Nominations will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person by hand, mail, courier, email or other delivery service at the Village of Clinton Municipal Office, 1423 Cariboo hwy, Clinton, BC V0K 1K0, during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays, from September 1, 2026 until the close of the nomination period on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Candidates are encouraged to submit nomination documents in person. While nominations may be submitted electronically or by other approved delivery methods, filing in person provides an opportunity for the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer to review the nomination package for completeness, answer any questions, and help ensure all legislative requirements have been met before nominations close.

Qualifications for Office

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a member of local government if they:

  • are a Canadian citizen;
  • are 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026);
  • have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six (6) months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
  • are not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, elected to, or holding local government office, or otherwise disqualified by law.

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a School Trustee if they:

  • are a Canadian citizen;
  • are 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026);

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, the following campaign period expense limits apply for the 2026 General Local Election:
