We are grateful for the continued patience and resilience of Clinton residents as this evacuation continues. Please continue to look out for one another and extend patience and kindness to your neighbours and fellow community members.
We will continue to keep you informed as new information is released.
BC Wildfire Service update
Crews continue to work on all sides of the Village of Clinton, extinguishing hotspots, removing material that could still burn and thoroughly mopping up to reduce the risk of fire spreading within the village.
Some areas continue to burn deep below the surface and require careful, thorough work to ensure hotspots are fully extinguished.
Crews have successfully completed planned ignitions west of the railway tracks, helping to further secure the west side of the village. Crews continue to patrol and mop up along the rail line and within the village, including properties on the southwest side, as changing weather conditions could increase fire activity.
Emergency Services Support for Evacuees
Evacuation orders in the Village of Clinton remain unchanged.
ESS supports for Clinton evacuees are currently in place until August 14.
This date does not mean the evacuation order will be lifted or that residents can return home this week. There is currently no estimated timeline for re-entry.
Provincial emergency management officials will review the need for another extension of ESS supports early this week. More information will be shared as soon as it is available.
If ESS supports are extended, evacuees may again have accommodation options, including an accommodation allowance or support from ESS to secure available accommodation.
Hotel availability in Kamloops and other communities is very limited. Evacuees who do not have secure accommodation with family or friends should keep this in mind when considering their ESS accommodation options.
