BC Wildfire Service activities
With heavy smoke and hot spots continuing to burn within the perimeter of the Village today, crews are continuing suppression efforts. Crews are above the rail line south of the Village of Clinton to establish anchor points from which they can work to safely bring the fire to control lines, with the goal of limiting further spread.
Crews remain active near Clinton-Station Road, supporting water delivery along the rail line and addressing hotspots along the fire perimeter.
South of Highway 97, crews are working to bring the fire’s edge to the established control lines to reduce the potential for further growth. The fire remains active on the steeper slopes in this area, where crews are working to gain access and address hotspots along the perimeter.
North of the village near Fiftyseven Creek, crews are using drip torches to remove unburnt fuel within the fire’s perimeter, reducing the risk of these pockets igniting later and sending embers toward nearby structures.
The Village of Clinton has received support from firefighters from Mexico today to help with suppression efforts.

The evacuation order for the Village of Clinton remains in place.
Emergency Support Services (ESS) update
ESS supports have been extended to evacuees as part of the Pear Lake Wildfire until August 14. Evacuees within the Kamloops area can return to the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre reception centre to process their extensions from August 5 from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and August 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Future hours will be evaluated as required by the reception centre.
Evacuees may also take advantage of self-serve options available with a BC Services Card app or call 1-800-387-4258 to renew ESS supports. Find more information about ESS at ess.gov.bc.ca.
Water treatment plant activities
Work on the removal of danger trees began today around the water treatment plant. A site visit occurred today to conduct an initial assessment of the wildfire damage. Next steps will involve further evaluation of the upper reservoir and the development of a testing regime, with the aid of agencies and service providers, to bring the plant online as soon as the threat of wildfire has subsided.
