BC Wildfire Service activities
BC Wildfire Service structure protection crews are actively protecting homes and buildings in and around the Village of Clinton. Hose and sprinkler systems remain in place and are being maintained.
Crews are patrolling the area for hotspots near important community infrastructure and removing debris and other flammable materials around structures.
North of Clinton, where the fire crossed Highway 97, crews are extinguishing hotspots. They are working up to about 25 feet inside the fire perimeter to help prevent the fire from spreading further.
On the west side of Clinton, crews are creating a fuel-free zone between the community and the fire. This work is important to help protect the community and strengthen containment efforts.
Northeast of Clinton, crews continue mop-up work in the area where a planned ignition operation took place on July 29. They are checking for hotspots and putting out any remaining heat between the fire’s edge and the fuel-free line. This work will continue until the area is fully extinguished to prevent the fire from spreading beyond containment lines.
South of Highway 97, crews are working to bring the fire’s edge back to established control lines to reduce the risk of further spread.
Evacuation orders in the Village of Clinton remain unchanged.
