July 28, 2026 (AM) Wildfire Update
We know many residents are eager to return home.
Staff are conducting rapid damage assessments and will connect with property owners that have major property impacts directly.
At this time, the evacuation order remains in place while agencies complete safety assessments and restore critical services. The wildfire remains active around the Village of Clinton and still poses a threat. The main access routes into the Village are not yet safe for public travel, critical utilities have not yet been restored, and health services are not available to support the community. These services need to be functioning before re-entry can occur.
We are working with the TNRD, BC Wildfire, Ministry of Transportation, RCMP, EHS and utility service providers to complete these assessments. Even after immediate threats have diminished, significant work will still be required before residents can safely return.
Our priority is returning residents home as soon as it is safe to do so and we will continue providing regular updates.
