Museum
Originally built in 1892 of hand-molded bricks as the community schoolhouse, the Museum houses one of the finest collections of Gold Rush and Cariboo artifacts. The building was used as a courthouse from 1919 until the late 1940s. In 1999 the Museum Society acquired the original 1911 Provincial Government Stables and had the building relocated to the rear of the museum. Wonderful exhibits that tell a fascinating tale of the character and perseverance of Clinton’s pioneers are on display there along with vintage buggies, wagons, and machinery.
While at the Museum, pick up a copy of the Walking Tour booklet. This self-guided tour will transport you back to the excitement of the gold rush era as you stroll up and down the main street of town. Many of the buildings bear the unmistakable features of previous eras with original street fronts and buildings to remind us of the Village’s rich historical past.
