Economic Development

The Village of Clinton strives to work with business owners, investors and the general public to diversify Clinton's economic base.

British Columbia’s economic growth depends on having enough skilled and qualified people to meet labour market needs. The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is a way for high-demand foreign workers and experienced entrepreneurs to gain permanent residency in B.C. The intent of the visit was to provide Clinton's marketing and investment information to the program directors and to gain a better understanding of how the program works. We were informed that the program has been hugely oversubscribed in the past 3 years and it will take until spring 2019 to catch up the backlog. The BC PNP program will announce updates to the application process in early 2018, with most of the process being moved to an online portal.

The Village of Clinton is participating in this new program by the BC PNP. The program is designed to attract entrepreneur immigration and match the potential immigrant to a community where they will thrive. The intent of the program is to support immigration to Rural BC.

Prior to being invited to submit a BC PNP application, the potential applicant must be invited by the community for an exploratory visit and ongoing communication between Clinton and the applicant. If after the visit and screening process both the community and the applicant are confident that Clinton is the right community for them, Council may choose to support the Immigration application.
