Economic Growth, Marketing and Investment Portfolio Project
Develop an “Economic Growth, Marketing and Investment Portfolio” that includes a marketing plan, feasibility studies and a gap analysis indentifying potential viable businesses, manufacturing and resource industry utilizing regional area assets in Clinton and the southern region of the Cariboo Regional District.
Clinton is located at the south end of the Mountain Pine Beetle infestation impact red zone and recognizes the need to diversify its economy from a single major employer to one of multiple industry sectors including Tourism, Retail, Manufacturing, Major Industry and Value Added products. Clinton’s Sustainability Plan created in 2014 by the citizens of Clinton, High Bar First Nation and Whispering Pines Clinton Indian Band calls for a growth in the population to increase from 650 to 1500 residents to keep municipal services affordable and the community sustainable. This growth can only happen if the economy in the village and surrounding area grows, enabling employment in all sectors.
Council has mandated Economic Development as a priority for the Village of Clinton in the 2016 Strategic Plan. This project is vital in promoting both Clinton and surrounding area to investors, as such the timeline has been set to complete this project by December 31, 2016 and to have the Economic Growth, Marketing and Investment Portfolios ready for distribution upon completion.
